CFS Presents a $4,000 Grant to the Welcome Fire Department

The CFS Foundation recently approved $2,500 in grant funds to be distributed the Welcome Fire Department.  In addition, the Land O’Lakes Foundation provided an additional $1,500, bringing the total contribution to $4,000.  The grant money will be used to purchase grain bin rescue equipment.

“As a cooperative business we are committed to our communities and greatly appreciate the volunteers that serve on our local fire and rescue departments,” says Merlyn Kruger, CEO.  “This contribution was made in an effort to ensure our fire and rescue departments are equipped to handle any emergency that may arise, including grain entrapment and rescue.”

In addition to these funds, the CFS Foundation will contribute approximately $92,000 this year to local organizations.

CFS employee, Dawn Abel, CFS SR VP of Human Resources and Kurt Koehler, CFS Board Vice Chairman was on-hand to present the Welcome Fire Department with a check for $2,500 and funds from Land O’Lakes Foundation of $1,500 for a total of $4,000.

Corn:
Planting and weather conditions are the name of the game currently. With planting progress looking very favorable and the weather forecast showing above normal temps and below normal precipitation for much of the corn belt all signs point to very good planting conditions. With that, we gave up yesterday’s gains on old crop and put in some new lows on December corn.
