CFS Presents a $2,400 Grant to Heaven’s Table

The CFS Foundation approved $10,000 in grant funds to be distributed to 15 backpack food programs within their service and trade area. In addition, the CFS funds are being matched by the Land O’Lakes Foundation, bringing the total contribution to $20,000. The purpose of the grant money is to help children with food insecurities.
“Giving back to our Communities is one of our five cooperative principals,” said CEO, Merlyn Kruger. “Contributions such as this are an investment in the future of our rural communities.”
Each program advisor was asked to fill out an application sharing with us how the funds are used and how many families the serve and how our donation would benefit their program.
The funds provided will supply food packs for all of Martin County – Fairmont Public Schools, Martin County West, Truman Public School & Granada, Huntley, East Chain School District. They provide 350 bags of food each week.

CFS employee, Sue Bay, CFS Feed Administrator was on-hand to present Heaven’s Table Food Shelf with a check for $1,200 and matching funds from Land O’Lakes Foundation of $1,200 for a total of $2,400.
CFS (Central Farm Service) is a farmer-owned cooperative operating facilities throughout southern Minnesota and north central Iowa. The cooperative is highly diversified with products and services in grain marketing and merchandising, crop production, seed, feed manufacturing, bulk energy products, and producer financing. Highlights as of 5/16:
Corn:
Planting and weather conditions are the name of the game currently. With planting progress looking very favorable and the weather forecast showing above normal temps and below normal precipitation for much of the corn belt all signs point to very good planting conditions. With that, we gave up yesterday’s gains on old crop and put in some new lows on December corn.
